Hello,

I was looking through the Himalyan Imports website for availible khukuris. It pointed me here. Is there a price/availibility list I'm just not seeing of knives that are availible through the website?

Thanks,
Jayson

Bill,
Think there is a Bura, wood handle, WW2 in there??Just curious! Not that i "have" to get "one" more,it's a cultural thing! You understand??

I hope you have something in those boxes suitible for some ones first.

Just a simple user, to cut tree limbs, roots and small chores around the house.

I finally decided I need one.

Perhaps someone could explain the process of selecting and buying a Khukuri here on the forum? I can't really explain the details because I'm still waiting to buy my first.

For top drawer Khukuris, from what I've observed the process is sort of like dropping a side of raw beef into a tank of very polite sharks. Once the picture, decription and price go on the board there is a swirl in the water and the Khuk is gone in seconds.

I think there are sometimes common models in stock to fill orders from the website, you just need to email them and ask what is on hand and the price.

If any of this is incorrect I hope someone more knowledgable will help straighten me out. Thx

Ron, just email Uncle Bill and ask him if he happens to have a certain khukuri style you are interested in stock. That way you may get first dibs on a good khukuri.

Ron you have it about right.

I had been wanting a 15" Birghorka Sirupati to replace a 17" village Sirupati that I traded off.

I asked Uncle Bill if he had any in stock as I was willing to pay the little extra amount that one does by doing it this way.
He didn't have any..... Now the deal is you have to keep reminding
Uncle Bill every few days, because obviously
HI has a lot more customers than us few in the forum, although one wouldn't think so by the way we act, and
it's hard to keep things straight.

After a few weeks I got one in the mail one day and that was that.
The UBDOTD and the UBBB are
bonuses
to thank us few who show that we have extreme cases of HIKV and are repeat buyers many times over.
At least that's my thought's on it.
And I know we all appreciate what Uncle Bill does for us.
And occasionally even some dayumed lucky lurker will pick one off!!!

For somone completely new here that hasn't lurked for a while
and
doesn't know the system the best thing to do is describe what you _want_
the khukuri _for_ and an indication of your size. Other info may be requested to further one's narrowing down of the Perfect Khukuri for _you_.

Then the suggestions will start flowing like you wouldn't believe as we all like to think we know what's best.

Then all you have to do is order one from Uncle Bill by e-mail or a phone call and that's it.
It will be a done deal before you know it unless of course you want something really fancy like the HI Kothimoda which may take a little longer.
And that's all there is to it.

I am new to knives from Nepal. I ordered a 15" Ang Khola today. I hate to sound ignorant, but how do you correctly pronounce khukuri?

:
Coo'curry?
Or at least that's my way. Be interesting to see the other forumites though.

You understand us very well. LOL

I say it like "curr-cri".
But I'm in no way an expert.
