Now, I may be wrong but just from an initial observation, the Dave Canterbury "Pathfinder Machete" looks way too close to the ESEE Lite to just be a copy. http://stores.wildernessoutfittersarchery.com/-strse-49/24"-Pathfinder--Machete/Detail.bok
It looks as if the ESEE logo was photoshopped out with a clone brush.
The pricing also made me curious about the possibility of someone buying Jeff & Mike's blades, changing the logos and reselling them.
I'm not claiming anything here. I just thought it was more than a little curious.

They are one and the same. Dave has contracted us to do a private label run for him to sell with his logo.

Dave Canterbury really know's his shit. The fact that he had a run of ESEE machetes with his logo on it is really cool and again speaks to the quality and price of ESEE products.

seems to me if it were just a ridiculous marketing ploy by the discovery channel, they'd go with a cheaper machete and firesteel. or maybe just t-shirts.

I'm 99% sure Discovery has rights to all products associated with Dave and Pathfinder...

Na, I don't understand how it all works exactly but anything Dave sells during the tenure of the show and 5 years after has to have his personal Pathfinder logo on it. Not really sure why Discovery cares if he sells non-branded items or not but I know that the profits from his sales go to him.

He and I talked at length about it a month ago when he was working on getting the machetes and firekits done.

Ah, thanks for clarifying that...

Didn't know about this. Dave makes some good YouTube vids, although I haven't seen too much new stuff from him lately, at least the type of product reviews, camping, survival, etc how-tos and techniques he used to do on his channel. I guess his Discovery contract might have something to do with his change of focus.

One of the last videos that he made he was keeping his face hidden.
He said it was because of the contract.
He was also saying that he could "only shoot video for a couple more weeks" because of said contract.
Great videos with a ton of awesome info!!!

His knife design is the Pathfinder made by Black Horse Knives. I have one and its a pretty nice bush general purpose tool.

The private label we are doing with Dave has NOTHING to do with the Discovery Channel.
