Do you guys that have the lite machete like the sheath? I saw that ESEE is now offering the sheaths separately on their website and I would like to pick one up for my Cold Steel 18'' Latin Machete. I was wondering if you guys liked your sheath and if it is worth the 15 bucks + shipping for it?

Get the one from Condor. The ESEE sheath WOULD be fine if they added about 2" of extra length to the top of the sheath so it swallowed a bit of the handle to provide some retention. It's a simple fix, and I've put the suggestion forward before, but have yet to see any signs that it's been implemented. :o

Shipping is what got me. I ordered one of those little pouches for the front of my esee5. price was $20 plus $10 shipping!

The ESEE machete sheath is as basic as a machete sheath can be. Really it is a blade cover. It works fine as a blade cover for strapping to a pack or whatever.

The Lite fits in a GI machete sheath which would be my preference for an aftermarket sheath. I'd go that route or the leather Condor for your machete.

We avoid competing with our dealer network. There are some dealers that have the sheaths and they're cheaper than you can order them from us.

The main reason that a new sheath design has not been implemented yet is because we still have a shitload of the regular sheath.

I couldn't find the pouch on any of the dealer websites. Maybe I didn't try hard enough? The last order I made from one of the dealers was for several knives, sharpening equipment and sheaths. The shipping was only $8.

I think they do all their shipping USPS flat rate partisan. They aren't a retail store, selling things directly isn't really their business. If they competed with the dealer network they would spend all of their time boxing up and shipping products.

Ah. That would make sense, now wouldn't it? :D Thanks for the info, chief!:thumbup:
