Ok guys and gals. I just got this basic 7 from on_the_edge and thought I would have some fun with a table my wife and I decided to chunk.

The result is...

basic 7 1
table 0

I had some real fun with this. I chopped, sliced, stabbed and even used the basic as a wedge to split the legs in half lengthwise. I used another leg to hammer the spine of the blade into the leg, just like noss-hog.

Sure think I will be looking for more unsuspecting wooded objects to punish....

Thanks,
Brett

Thanks to you friend!!!!!!

Amazingly enough, after all that beating, it's still SHAVING sharp.

:)

After hunting down all the Basic sizes I do like the "7" as an all around user.

That asymmetric edge can do some wild stuff :D

ok, I am SO glad to hear you say that. I thought it was a bad grind at first adn have been meaning to ask if it's an asymmetric grind or something.

thanks tony,
Brett

Asymmetric grind was typical of the early Busses. I believe that it is supposed to be very easier than some of the other grinds to sharpen in the wilderness, although I have never tried to sharpen any knife under such conditions. It's just something I read once.

boy, you should see this basic now. The coating is almost completely gone from the last inch of the blade near the tip and it's good and broken in now. lots of fun with it today.

It is very easy to get sharp again or to regrind. If needed I just hit the V grind side (the long side) with an Edge Pro and then strop the convex side. The edge comes bace very fast and easy

I can't believe that I have beat the snot out of this thing all day and it still shaves my arm. Nice:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
