Mini-Dashi! I just came in from chopping up the bar I got. I started profiling the bar on the KMG and really like this little one!

I also have some 8" tantos and folder blades planned, I chopped them to length today. Stay tuned! :D

I'm feelin the dammy dashis too, dude. Will these look like your last? The last one you had for sale was very sleek and slimline. I loved it!

Thanks... cool!

Like the last - mini-dashis or dammy? I may do the two holes like the mini dashis (or maybe a forward thumb recess, I'd have to show you guys what I mean... not a choil) As far as lines this one is profiled and I have one more that has the fully rounded butt/straightish sides like a traditional kiridashi.

I was hoping to do a few more but decided for bigger tantos instead... 8"! They have me reconsidering feeding them by hand into the chop saw with that length... :D

By the way, I hacksawed that sucker out with just a 8$ hacksaw and $10 clamp on vise! 5 minutes... :D

I got a $3 hacksaw and couldn't do much on my billet. Broke out the portaband. How do you do these things?!?! You are a machine! lol

Hey like I said, it was an $8 hacksaw... that $3 one won't cut it! :highly_amused:

I once doubted Xander about his hacksaw advice....never again. The hi tension part is VERY important. haha

Troof.

Bobby, this should sum it up for you. I took this picture after profiling my first knife several years back. I went and bought a hi - tension saw the next morning. It combined with a solid bench and vise, good lube and you will laugh at tool steel! Also, strap your bench to the wall, it will help a ton.

I built my bench and my wall. together. They're not going anywhere. They're also tapcon'd into the concrete.

I'll have to check into a new saw. I hate having to break out the portaband every time I wanna cut metal!
