For the people only browsing Shop Talk, my latest piece of work.

Finished the little integral fighter today. Grinding and finishing the little scales was quite a pita but I think the result came out ok.

Here's a pic of the blade in progress and one of the finished knife and australian burlwood stand:

The quality of the pics is not the best, I'm still trying to improve, the damascus seems to be dirty and washed out but that's just the pics.

For the burl stand I utilized my mill and tried some "fancy" rounded transition from the base to the actual stand on top. I thought this would make a nice gift for the customer so he can put it on his desk. I did that before for Dudleys and other customers dwarfs but they were not as fancy as this one.

I left the mammoth scales a bit thicker than my "mind-for visual-appeal" wanted me to make them, so the customer has a good and full grip on his new letter opener (reminded me of the frign' huge bumble bee that visited my shop today and gave me the shock of my lifetime when she suddenly flew by while I was grinding away :D) .

Looking forward to your comments.

Best regards,
Marcus

That is pretty flippin cool ! :) What is OAL ? It looks small , which I like.
The bottom pic showing a top view is sexy , I like the fat little handle.
I can imagine that must have taken a good amount of time to finish , nice job :D

A great knife and holder! The top picture is really busy, lots of things going on in it :o)
Great work Marcus!

Way Cool! Somehow the term "Bumble Bee" is apropriate. Nice work, I'm sure the customer will love it.

Thanks a lot guys, your comments make me do feel good :).

The OAL is 9 cm, blade lenght is about 4.5 cm.

In future there might be more and upscaled Damascus full integrals, as I'm trying to get my hands on a "little" 1,3 ton air hammer :p :D.

So wish me luck and watch out :) .

Regards Marcus
