I have a good friend that has been asking me to make him a custom knife for quite some time, he is not a big outdoor knife user and is fairly well to do. He has a great collection of "Items" around his house so I thought I would surprise him this Christmas with something a little different.

Specs:
Steel: 1/8" 1080
OAL: ?? I would say 7" as a crow files
Blade: 4"
Handle: Hogs "Cutter" Tusk
Bolster/Cap: G10
Pin: 1/4 Mosaic

I don't think he will be carrying it around but it is functional and quite comfortable if you run the Hog tusk point between your ring and pinky finger. I am either making a stand for it or a horizontal Leather sheath.

Thanks for looking, comments welcome

Thanks Matt, Yep it is a Hollow grind on a 10" wheel. Will put up some other photos from different angles shortly.

That is very cool Ryan. Nice job on the mosaic pin and the bolsters. I think your friend will be very happy.

Thanks Jared! I hope he likes it, kinda one of those guys that already has everything he wants... I figure chances are pretty slim he has a knife made from a Pig Tusk?

Very cool design. Can I send a Chupacabra canine your way?

Ryan, I think he's gonna love that! I gotta admit, when I saw your thread said "something different for me....." this is not what I expected. You did a great job on that. The hollow grind turned out really nice. Ten inch wheel is a perfect fit for that blade. Good job buddy!

I like the hollow grind too. It's a very unique knife that would make a nice display in your friends house.

Thanks Jon, I need some more practice with my Hollow grinds for sure but they sure make nice cutters.

Hey John I appreciate that, sounds unfortunate that it will sit on display. I guess he can use it if he so chooses:D

Really nice knife and a very good job shaping that pin to fit the tusk without disturbing
much of the patina of the tusk itself. Touchy work that.

Great job matching the pin and cap/guard to the tusk Ryan! I'm sure your friend will be thrilled with this very unique piece, and it seems like the perfect knife for the 'non-knife' guy.

That thing is nice! He wins either way, a great user and/or a work of art for his house... awesome.

Thanks Dan, Paul, Steve and Wade, the pin work gave me fits but I like how it turned out in the end. I think he will like it as well.

I made up another one with some of Mike Turners Damascus. The new hogs tusk had seen a lot more action when attached to the Hog.

Awesome. Tell him it would be perfect as a cheese knife. That way he can show it off without trying and it will get some use.
