I recently bought a Kershaw, Whirlwind. It is the first folding knife I have. I am very happy with it and like the 'SpeedSafe' assisted opening.
Can anyone suggest any other quality brands with similar assisited opening blades that work as well as the Kershaw. Thankyou.

I had that knife. Only sold it because I needed the money. Great knife.

SOG Knives has great "assisted" knives too that work the same way. I recommend their "Flash II" and "Blink".

Camillus has some larger knives that work the same way.

i just bought a SOG Flash II and a Kershaw Speed bump. They both have the spring assisted opening. And they both have a kind of back up lock, maybe so that they dont open in your pocket somehow? i'm not really sure why. But the lock keeps the blade from opening when it is engauged, sort of the opposit of the CRKT LAWKS system
The SOG has some kind of plastic handle (zytel?) and no liners. It feels pretty sturdy tho. If i was gonna buy it again i'd probably spring for the aluminum handle material instead.
The speed bump is an awesome kinfe. It came shaving sharp and with the recurve blade it cuts like the devil. And it has the "carson flipper" Which becomes part of the guard when the knife is open and works like an opening lever when the knife is closed, really slick. Actually if i was gonna place my order again i'd just skip and Flash II altogether and get another Bump :)
