I love this time of year when everything is in bloom and all the critters are out. I noticed this little lady has set up housekeeping on the cactus. She is still small, but will grow to about three inches long by summer's end.

Those garden spiders are really cool.
When I lived in Florida we would get some grow up to 3 or 4 inches.
They make really neat webs that will hold the dew on damp mornings.
Looks kind of like an abstract drawing.

That's quite the W's pattern she has going Stacy!!! ;) :D

I was absolutely terrified of spiders as a kid. As an adult I've come to appreciate what they are and even that some of them (like this one) have beautiful markings. I still don't want them crawling on me though! ;)

Cool photos Stacy! :)

I love Garden Orb spiders - they're beautiful and it's fun watching their webs grow.

You've seen the Droid (?) phone commercial with the trio going to a business lunch at the restaurant where the guy lays down his phone and the big yellow and black terantula looking spider comes up. It ends with "thanks, Dave" after he smashes the phone with his shoe? That's why I don't let my wife look at these threads. She's the screamer.

I hate to think of the night when we're actually getting burglarized or something and I ignore her because I think she's only seen a spider.

Hahahaha that reminds me of the time I heard my wife screaming and ran into the kitchen to see her throwing her shirt on the floor and ripping her bra off because a spider had crawled up her arm and down her top. She said she would have done it if she was in the middle of the grocery store. Can't wait til she sees the nest full of babies on the deck. I love those orb weavers though, we don't get them up here much but I was kayaking through the Okefenoke a few years ago, we would have to lay back across the rear decks to get under the webs when we were going through some channels.. Big spiders, big webs. Gotta find those pics.
