I'm bidding on this piece over on that large auction site and I was hoping the knowledgable folks here may have a bit more info on this one.

Speaking for myself, I haven't seen Stainless marked on the blades like this. And no model number. Seller indicates it's 3 1/2" closed is all. So a 897 maybe? Dunno enough about Scrade/Uncle Henry's anymore. I pretty much lost interest years back when they went overseas, but now that I'm older, I'm appreciating the older models again.

Thanks guys....appreciated.

Sellers two pics.

Looks like an 897 to me...shares the same frame with the 825, 899, 893, etc.

The ones I have owned have had model numbers stamped on the tang so I am not sure if that is atypical or not. There are some pretty knowledgeable folks that will hopefully chime in.

897UH unless anyone says different. The early SW models also had serial numbers inside the liners. The early Staglon (Delrin) handles always looked better than later varities. Hope you get it!!

On these early ones, the pattern number was stamped on the back tang of the pocket blade. I agree with others that it is an 897UH. Made before 1973. How much before depends on the serial number stamped into the liner. I have carried one of these every day for many years and don't feel properly dressed without it.

I've heard that was due to staglon over harvesting.

On the Schrade Walden ones, the 897 UH is on the pile side of the main blade. All three blades are marked 'Stainless.'

Looks pretty good. If you get it, check to see what the serial number on the inside of the scale is, the lower numbers have no letter at the beginning.

I have one like that.

Good luck!
