is their a way to tighten up the scabbard on my HI villager 12"--is a little too loose for me  :)

Could you describe the looseness problem a little better. Front to back? Side to side?

I have had good luck gluing leather "shims" inside the mouth of the scabbard.

I have far more fits with too tight. :(

Shims, or you can soak the scabbard in water and then tightly wrap it with a leather belt or rope. When it dries, it should be tighter. Probably less risk of messing things up with the leather shims. There's a section in the FAQ on the HI website explaining the other procedure in a fair amount of detail.

Yiterp, use the shim(s). They're the easiest way to tighten up a scabbard IMO.
I've tried wetting them and wrapping them tightly with rope or such but it's a pain in the ass and a crap shoot too boot.

The nice thing about the shims is that you can use either a thick or thinner piece of leather to get what you need. It isn't easily seen and is usually secure for a good long time.
I haven't had one come loose yet using super glue to glue them in with.
Using the shims will definitely cure thefront to back looseness so the side to side won't matter.
Besides the side to side is moot anyway since the blade is always wider at the bottom than it is below the bolster anyway.
Take out any side to side looseness and you won't be able to draw your khuk. :p ;)
