I've seen a lot of interest in Scott's great Deer Creek design lately, and would like to share a little bit of information about the tributary so near and dear to residents hearts. Deer creek is a local tributary in Harford County, which meanders through the northern part of the county, from the western portion of the county, to the Susquehanna river. Deer Creek flows through private and public land, most notably in Rocks State park and Susquehanna state park. It also flows through a little spot called Eden Mill. Lots of fond memories for me in that creek.

This is the mouth of Deer Creek, where it empties into the Susquehanna River. Beautiful spot to stop at and go for a walk or for fishing. Quite treacherous to go swimming in high water, heard tales from a few people who have had to pull people from the currents, and who have watched a few people go under in them.

The Chesapeake Bay watershed is amazing, and Deer Creek is a nice little part of it.

Thanks for posting that SHS. As soon as the weather cools a bit I plan to do video of my favorite part of Deer creek that runs through my hunting grounds. The spot I'm talking about is amazing. A pretty deep valley back in a heavy set of woods we named the Alpha woods where alot of big bucks tend to hang out. Especially when the pressure of hunting season is on. That part of the creek also has some native brown trout, along with rainbows the DNR stocks in the spring. Turkey back in there also.

Thanks for posting Dan. I've caught several stocked rainbows from Deer Creek over the years. I drive through Rocks often on my motorcycle. It truly is a special place. Cool knife too!
