So the WIP for Lorien's big knife was very time consuming and took a lot out of me. I was thinking there had to be a simpler way to do things, and I think I may have found it.

Here's the starting materials--- some 1084, 15N20, G10, copper, 416 ss, and a nice stag carver.

Then just sprinkle some of this on it-

And voilà!!! ;) :) I wish I had found this trick a long time ago!!!

So do you put the Wonka Grape YuMPtious Dip Powder on the steel when it's cold or at temperature?

:mad:I got the shaft!
Why the hell didn't my knife get any sprinkles?!:thumbdn: BOOOO!

Nice knife, though.
(nice, in this case, meaning perfect):D:thumbup:

I saw some of that stuff at Wally World and did not get any. Now that the word is out I bet they sell out quick. Sure makes it easy doesn't it Nick.

What grit of YumPtious Dip are you using there? I been using Lik-m-Aid (I guess it has been re-branded to Fun-Dip these days, but I bought several crates full a few years back... it'll last me for a few more years). The things I like about the Lik-m-Aid are the three different flavors in one handy pack - cherry, grape & raspberry/apple - and the handy applicator stick that is included. I give your way a try though... can't argue with the results.

And voilà!!! ;) :)

I love it when you talk dirty! That is French, right?

:cool:Nice Nick! I've gotta add that to my bag of tricks...

Fantastic little hunter you have there.:thumbup:

Ha! Nice one Nick. Have to say I was a little disappointed as I have a stag taper that looks almost identical so I was looking forward to seeing what you did with it.

Beautiful knife!

Nice, I love a good WIP thread! Too bad the Wonka powder makes them so damn short:(

Sweet little knife Nick:D

Hey there is a guy out there in Washington ( think his name is bump) who can show you how to fix all your problems on this knife.

Well dang Nick there you go letting all the secrets out. You are not supposed to tell these things. Turned out pretty well with the grape, orange seems to work better for me. Nice work as usual. Keep up the excellent work.

I got to check out this knife while at Nick's for the day. It has the classic crisp clean lines that he's known for, but the best part is the way the stag taper fits perfectly into your hand.

Nick, it was nice to meet your parents and Angie. You made me feel welcome and taught me a ton. I was a little apprehensive about how the day would go after I invited myself over:o. I really had a great time, hope we can do it again soon.
