Uncle Bill-
Just got the two 'Bilton' kuks....the 9", 4 ounce ones. ChairWoman of the Board appropriated one that she says either goes in her belt in the small of her back, in a hip pocket, or in her purse. Eldest child plays piano some around Nashville on weekends, besides doing her oboe/english horn work. Most of the time, she wears these long, straight deals that are split up one side. She is figuring on getting some wide elastic & doing Yangdu's thigh trick to help some of the more intoxicated patrons usderstand the meaning of "no." Too bad I didn't look like her at 21 years old....wouldn't be working swing-shift in a hydro-plant!!!! Anyway, both knives made the trip & I have been instructed to touch up the edges, but don't get attached to them, as they aren't going in my collection. These are really neat, well made knives. Thanks.

I got my nice little 'Bilton(g)' khuk today too :D with nice rosewood handle - thanks Uncle!

It's a nice size between the tiny kagas katne and the 'small end' of the regular khuk line, 12", 15"

I got mine today. The Biltons(?) are excellent miniature khukuries with all the features of their bigger brothers at half the scale.

make me jealous, fine! I'm sure those would sell fairly well, especially if offered regularly...

I don't understand this reference. What do looks bring, exactly, besides waitressing and a better pick during the mating ritual?

that's true, but if you aint got nothing else when you open your mouth, it won't get you very far.

Hey Munk-I get hired mostly to accompany vocalist, & etc. My function is stay between the drummer & bass player & try to get a groove going that stays in the pocket. Eldest child looks a helluva lot better than me, & makes her money setting at the piano getting $20 tips for playing "Misty." I told her a few years ago to take a thermos with her & when somebody buys her a drink, tell them single-malt scotch..neat. Pour in thermos & bring home to the old man.

you have wicked ways. when i drank, straight malt was the thing. Laphrough, terribly misspelled, was my favorite.

I drink a lot. I have a bottle of Laguvulin, Bowden's, Talisker and my favorite, McCallum's all still over half full, some over three quarters full after a year, way over a year.
Well six months over a year anyway.:D
My B-I-L has drank most of the Laguvilin as it's my least favorite. He doesn't know I have the others.;)

I'm one of the lucky ndns that alcohol doesn't bother, a true blessing as with the pain meds I'm on, well too much alcohol would
simply kill me, but that might be a blessing too.

I did not pass 'go' but went directly to intoxication. Many of the indians I meet are the same and it is refreshing to know I am not alone. The ill kept clothes, single issue days, everything really, reminds me of me. I used to have a trashcan in the middle of the living room for empties but it was always overflowing.

Yvsa, your post reminded me not of booze, but of blessings we sometimes forget or do not even know we have.

No it didn't ...but we sure could turn people's heads:D

Uncle,
I got both of the Biltong khukuris the other day. I kept the horn handled one and gave the wood handled one to my Brother. Both took a razor sharp edge, both will get a new leather sheath soon. My brother loved his and plans to carry it every day as soon as I make the sheaths.
Uncle,
I have all the supplies for your belt and will be starting on it soon.
I'm gonna do a few practice runs first.
Thanks again.
God Bless.

Good scotch. I'm drinking Glenlivet 12year old single malt right now.

I developed a keen sense for scotch when I was at college, in Lafayette, IN (Purdue). Seems thea the Subaru / Isuzu plant had a bunch of Japanese associates, and the Japanese are all into scotch. So, the local liquor stores stocked the best scotch.

Interesting thing about the S/I plant and the surrounding 4 sq miles of proving grounds...it is considered Japanese soil, and they set the rules there. It is gruelling work, I hear. Anyhow, the plant is right off of the Bataan Memorial Highway! They tried to get the name changed, and were promptly and respectfully informed that inside their gates is Japan, outside them is America. The name remains.

Once every three or four years when I take a drink of hard stuff it's generally Johnny Walker Black. But what do I know? When I was a heavy drinker anything that would get the job done was good enough.

? Go figure? It's not an Embassy or Consulate. How does it figure as Japanese soil? Are you telling me, they do not have to follow the rules the American Industry has to?
