I just finished up this new model, and figured I would share pics and get opinions.
I know a lot of people end up using a paring knife more than anything else, but most parers aren't suited for board use. This is sort of a hybrid design or tiny gyuto. It's tall heel makes it well suited for use on a cutting board, and generous D shaped handle is very comfortable. This one is 13c28 stainless steel. The handle is some beautiful "Honey glow" Desert Ironwood, with fantastic chatoyance. It features one 1/8" copper pin and one of my 1/4" copper/carbon fiber hybrid pins.

Here are the specs.
OAL - 8 7/8"
Blade - 3.5"
Height at heel - 1.6"
Weight - 3.9oz

Ben, I don't follow kitchen knives much so excuse my ignorance, but what is the purpose of the asymmetrical handle shape? Is that something that's seen in kitchen knives, or is that your own design?

Thanks.

It is a Japanese style handle and would traditionally be a a WA (hidden tang) handle. It's one of those designs that makes sense when you pick it up. It is very comfortable and controllable. This would technically be a right handed knife.

This better shows the handle design.

I do similar. Both the blade and handle can be optimized for handedness. It makes quite the difference in use.

Beautiful and practical.
Handles are so interesting- some people pick up a knife with a handle like that and say, Where have you been all my life?
Some pick it up and put it down. It's fun that there are so many people out there with so many different preferences.

Thanks for the comments guys. I will definitly be making more with this handle, I really like the look and feel.
