Campfire cookout time yesterday, so I brought the 9 to prep some wood. It didn't take as long as I planned, and no one was supposed to show up for an hour or so, so I decided to waste some time carving a spatula to cook with. My plan was to rough it in with the 9, the go to something smaller to do the detail work, but the dang 9 just kept working. I should know better by now than to be surprised at the usefulness of the 9. I decided at that point that I just don't need a little knife companion when the King is in the house. I'd show you the final product, but the kids stole it and took it into the woods to hit things with. Last I saw it my 5 year old was chasing a deer with it. Little maniac.

In my 9 sheath I carry the Remora but mainly I rely on the Victorinox Farmer for small work. I also sometimes keep a Swisstool in the pouch.

BK-11 or BM-24

Depends how big your hands are. If they're small to medium, then a BK14. Large - Izula II.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I was trying to say that I didn't need a little companion knife because the 9 was so capable, but I think I was a little obscure. I do appreciate the help.

You were clear enough...I think this was just a case of people knowing the answer before they read the question (esp since there wasn't a question).

The BK9 is a large knife that does surprisingly well for small knife tasks.

The only time I want something smaller is if I'm working on something where the wide chord of the knife won't fit (like a narrow notch, which is why all purpose made carving knives are super narrow, so you can do small stuff like this). Also, if for some reason I have to use the tip for a long time, then I'll switch it out, as eventually working that far away from the tip can be tiring on the wrists.

But yes, thats why I like the 9 so much, I can easily do just about anything I'd need to around camp with it. Be it chopping, battoning, carving guyline pegs/stakes, feathersticking, etc.

Who has time to read? BK-14!!! :D
No, the original point was well taken on my part. The 9 can be a big little knife, mainly because of the Becker scales.

My hands aren't that big, so the king is quite a big blade for me, that made me look out for a smaller one, finding the 14 the perfect companion for my 9, use to try the 11 but for some reason end up not that happy with, not saying that i hate that little fella, just i feel the 14 more comfortable in my hands,so for me i guess the bk14 is the one
