I haven't had much time in the shop lately but I did manage to finish this one last night. The blade is a twist pattern forged from some cable (courtesy of Indian George) and a few worn out bandsaw blades (courtesy of my delta 14").

I didn't get much contrast in the etch so the pattern is pretty subtle.

The guard is 303 stainless, the handle is stabilized redwood burl held on with a small domed pin, and the spacer is buffalo horn.

Comments and criticisms will make me better so don't be shy.

I like it. Nice wood. I also think your photo backdrop is great. Nice textural contrast and it keeps with the theme.

Very nice overall package, I really like the handle

What did you use for etchant, Ferric Chloride?

Pretty sweet, D... the transition from guard to handle is SMOOTH. Impressive for a guy that has to do it at 3AM! Family still trying to kill ya?

Not that I really have any time either, but we really ought to plan a get-together for some time next year, so we can actually talk somewhere other than during hammer-ins!

Thanks for the comments guys. The background was just what happened to be available there in the shop (forge scale, go figure). I etched in Ferric Chloride but one guy I talked to suggested I cut it thinner so it etches more slowly.

Yeah and the family's been keeping me pretty busy. Hell just last week the wifey made me take her to the hospital so she could give birth. Women...

Nice Job!!!  :D You have to come back down so we can make up more Damascus.:D :D
