Little knives are silly. I dont know why anyone would collect them.

There are 12 different model numbers all sharing the same 1-7/8" blade and locking system. 425, 505, 506, 507, 515, 524, 525, 526, 527, 529, 825, 826. I've tried counting how many but always loose track when I get past 20....

BennyBlade,
I will pass on your opinion of small knives but I do have to say that I admire the background you used for the picture! LOL
By the way, except for a few books I will take to knife shows, Holding An Edge is now sold out and I do NOT plan to have a second printing.

Ha! Obviously my opinion has changed over the time I have been collecting. Joking aside, L Larry Oden the book is GREAT. I've been hinting to the wife for one for a while. A great gift that was a nice surprise.

I would have to take the opposition and say that big folding knives are silly, most of my folders except the 2 110's and a couple others are 3.5" or less.

I watched my grandfather do basically everything with a humble little Victorinox classic, and that showed me the value / usefulness of a small little knife.
I don't use 'em up like he did the then $10 Victorinox classic, but I'm not afraid to carry and use them.
I could carry just a Buck 305 and have many times without issue.

I have added another 305 to the mix since this picture was taken, and I have 3 or 4 of Bucks small lockbacks from the 425 524 and 525 plus a case and Gerber or two of the same size because I love small knives.

Those small bucks, the 505, 525 and 425 cut way above their class. I’ve skinned squirrels with them before as well as most other pocket knife tasks.
I carried a 3.5" bladed belt knife along with one of my 305's last week and never actually needed anything but the 1" coping secondary blade on my 305.

I'm not going to say what people should carry or that they should only carry the bare minimum because I surely don't , but it sure is nice to know and is satisfying to get the job done with a knife / blade most people would say is too small for anything.

Don't forget the 283 Nano Bantam, and its several camo variations.

That is a thought, it does have a 1-7/8" blade. I own more than a few Buck knives but not any Bantam's to compare. The nano Bantam is imported, the others all USA.

Edit, the Nano Bantam was
Imported 2006-2009, 420J2
USA 2010-2020, 420HC

I like the mid sized folders. I used to carry small knives for work a long time ago. One of my favorites was very small, but the darn things always grew legs and wings on the jobsite.... a bigger knife is easier to keep track of and harder to hide...😕

I have at least four Nano Bantams floating around the house and all are made in the USA.

PS: the 503 is a 1991 model that has been re-bladed. My first or second Buck knife - a gift from my father. I have carried it across four continents. I sharpened it till the point was exposed when closed. Some days I regret having it re-bladed, others I don’t.
