Little package going to Boise

Finally managed to pack up my knives and get them in the mail. Took me over a month but they need it. Clips and refurbs all around.

That leaves my Umnumzaan to take care of me while they are gone. Any ideas on how to deal with the separation? No new knives, at least until payday. :D

To get my mind off knives for a while, I buy a new watch -- a Swiss-made mechanical pilot or automatic diver usually does the trick (Panerai is my favorite). To wit:

 Beautiful watch there!

Actually this reminds me, I have had my eye on a new Lum-Tech. :p Maybe an early Christmas gift?

Just got word from Heather that they are on the way back! :D

Though no 6" Sikayo's in stock. :(

I'd love to see a "before and after" set of pictures when you get them back...please :).

+1 on that. And if you wouldn't mind sharing the cost of service, it would be good info for those of us who will need to do the same thing eventually.

Thanks!

Sheesh, I was gonna send my Regular Seb off for refurb but was unaware a fellow had to purchase a 5600 dollar swiss watch while the Seb was gone. I'm thinking I'll hold off for a while. What a sweet watch. Congrats. Love that look. Personally, in the Panerai world, I'll stick with Chinese knockoffs. But you have the real deal. Congrats dude. Yikes. You're wearing an heirloom!

Unfortunatly I'm not sure how many "before" pictures I have and at what quality. Will surely try though.

Breakdown of work done:

(I sent in three knives, two Regulars and one Insigno)

Prices are what I have written down, when I paid today it came out to about $2.50 over the actual costs. I'll update when I get the invoice.

Sebenza #1
Clip + Screw: $15
Pivot bushing + washers: $7.50 ($6 bushing, $0.75 washers)

Sebenza #2
Blasted pin set: $8.50 x 3 = $25.50
Clip + Screw: $15
Pivot + washers: $7.50
Re-blast scales: $27.50
Gold double lug: $35
Gold backspacer: $7

The Insigno had an issue with a blasted pin set that messed something up. No cost issues there.

My total was $137.50 + shipping brought it to ~$160'ish. I needed one Sebenza (#1) just tuned and a new clip, threw the washers in because what-the-heck, it's already in Boise. Sebenza #2 I bought used which was just a wreck. Scales were scratched, looked like they had been refinished at some point (poorly) the blade needed to be sharpened, and the lockup just felt "off." Still solid, but locking open gave a hollow "ping" instead of a "thunk" that is normally found. I gave this one the works and added the lug work because I wanted to see how the double lugs suit me.

Yes, you are obligated to buy one.

Mine is coming Monday, and Vinny is coming Tuesday to take my knees. :D

Thanks for the info -- very helpful! Pretty reasonable prices, too.

I'm sure you're excited to get your babies back -- I'll check back for pix. . . .

Thanks again, Josh.

Very Nice, can't wait to see the pictures. I had the washers & pivot bushing added to my Lg Regular Sebenza when she took the trip earlier this year.

Package is back. 2-day shipping is worth every penny!

One thought though, I didn't know they removed some material from the lockbar when doing the double lugs. I'm a bit bummed about that.

Pictures when I get home. I'll comparison shots between the two Sebenza's I sent (one re-blasted the other not) and the rest of my CRK family.

Thanks for the eye candy -- they look great!!

And I wouldn't worry too much about the room made on that lockbar for the extra thumb stud -- it's barely noticeable. So enjoy!

I do really like the double lugs. I'm seriously thinking about having them installed on every CRK I get. With the second lug it's very easy to open and close the knife left handed as well as symmetric.

Nice collection. I have been debating when I send my plain Classic in if I should have CRk install double lugs. I am going to have them replace the blue lug and back spacer anyway. I just wonder if it's functional since I am right handed and if the double lug manages to get itself snagged on my pants more.

I've given it minimal amount of pocket time, but haven't noticed any snagging issues at all. I think the lugs are pretty low profile.

I have double lugs on all three of my current Sebs (small regular, small classic, large 21). I have not noticed any snagging. I'm mostly a LH user but I like having the ability to open it with either hand.
