Well my son (Axl) LOVES the shiny Ash that he sees his dad pull out of the safe.. he always wants to hold it but as you can imagine... he ends up watching me use it an almost never gets to touch it. Out of boredom this weekend I ran to the hardware store and built a little mock Ash1 for him. He helped build it an is in heaven now.. another Busse fan starting young!! :D

That's Cool as hell Rob.....you're probably happier seeing him with his than you are with yours. Good times right there bro.

just printed out a side pick of an ash an resized it until it fit him just right.. then cut out the print an traced it on a 1/4" piece of oak. jig sawed it out an sanded the edges.. then used one of those thin wooden paint mixer sticks to make the scales. after sanding a dull bevel I spray painted the oak with metallic silver spray paint. then glued on the scales with wood glue.. then rounded out the scales with sand paper.. He loves it!!!
this was before the scales an paint!

Very, very cool. You are a good daddy.

Your son will remember this forever. It's all about the experiences man.

Very nice! Great job with that. Seriously looks like a down-sized ASH.

I'll have to remember it's made out of wood when I see it hit the Exchange.

Now thats a cool thing to do. You are making memories Dad. I too am buying for my boy. Once we get ours in I will have to post a pic or two. Great job.
