I had an old Boy Scout axe head laying around my friend gave me. Cut the head the way I wanted and formed a handle from a scrape. I think the junk axe heads that I used to skip over are gonna be for projects like this now.
I'm thinking if it was a bona fide Boy Scout item (with the official stamps) you could have auctioned it off and bought a sack of old heads to practice on instead.
The work you did is pretty good , but I think you butchered the head all up and turned an American poll axe into something weird:barf: ( next time try turning a cheapo old Dayton pattern into a nice curvy Michigan pattern  )
It isn't an actual Boy Scout axe head lol. Was a cheap copy. Just said Boy Scout axe head so you knew what it looked like beforehand. I wouldn't dream of doing something like that to an authentic one. I used a piece of an old broken double bit axe handle. I like the way this one turned out. I'm gonna take your advice and buy a group of old junk axe heads to work on.
