I've got video and pics to add later, just want to see how well this worked.

Had to get out and play with my new Mountainsmith Day lumbar pack, and see how well this windshirt breathes and takes going through brush.

Trail down to the bottom of the canyon from Eberhart Point.
I'm sure noone wants to miss my commentary on river rock slime, wildlife, developed trails, etc.
It really is a steep trail, and no, I never shut up while the video was running. Had to keep my mind off my aching knee.
Coming back I took a 5 min. breather on one of the benches I ridiculed on the way down, and stopped for a minute to catch my breath a couple more times. The return trip was a good workout.
Says it was deleted for being too long :(

There's no trail, so you have to find your way down...

..then work your way over to the falls.

It was overcast and gray, and not nearly as colorful as later in the spring, or especially the fall, but it was pretty enough for me.

From just below the trailhead at Eberhart Point, the trail drops over 500ft. in less than half a mile, then gradually drops down to the river.
You can see from the time stamps it took ~15min. to go down. Coming back up took at least twice as long. It was a good workout!

We used to go to there in the '70's when we were in high school. I've heard things have changed in the last few years. Thanks for the vid.

First time I've been, even though I've lived the majority of my life in Alabama.
Sucks that my other video was too long, but I'm adding pics.

Ft. Payne is my hometown and I grew up down in that canyon. I have trekked from the blue hole all the way down to the campground and what's left of Canyonland Park. I used to ride the chairlift when I was a kid. Those pics sure bring back memories. I used to swin just below G.E. Hill bridge...Ah...good times...

What a great place to grow up! I'm a Tide fan, too;)
Hate to miss the A-day game, but have off days during the week, and am saving vacation time.
I was studying every rapid I could get a glimpse of through binoculars. I'm only good for class III in my sit-on-top, though, and it's class III-VI through the canyon. Maybe someday. Had to cancel my plans for whitewater instruction to make time for another trip, too...
