OK, no more Mister Niceguy.:grumpy:
No news, no pictures, no NOTHING, from Little Rock.
Show attendees can return to my good graces by posting some exciting updates right here ASAP! ;)

Damn - I thought I was impatient. :p

And yeah - I waiting for the reports too. ;)

Roger

Show attendance:

Very busy on Sat. much slower on Sunday as usual. New collectors appeared, plus the regulars like Danbo were scarfing up knives. He took lots of pictures so come on and post them Dan.

It would be too lengthy to mention ALL the quality knives at the show but here's a few. Every year the level of craftsmanship keeps getting nicer. Ken Durham was set up behind me with superb bowies with silver pique work.
Jerry Fisk had a realy beauty...a pearl handle damascus bowie with his engraving and gold inlay.Watch for this knife on KnifeArt.com. Gary Crowder's multiblade folders were impressive. He is really good and has such affordable prices too. I could go on and on but need to get in the knife shop today to build some more knives since I'm out of stock again.

Award winners:
Tim Foster-Best Bowie and another knife won Best Damascus
Jerry Lairson Sr.- Giraffe Bone.com award (new award)
Jerome Anders-Best Art Knive(he did a practice run on a M.S. art dagger, he won't have any problem with the real McCoy he builds for the Blade Show.
Roger Massey- Best Hunter I think.
I don't know the name of the guy that won best fighter or best miniature.
I know Vernon Red won something and some guy with a folding dog bone bowie won Best Folder and also Best of Show.

Reggie Barker won the Cheesecake baking contest. He beat his opponent Jerry Fisk.

Okay it's time to go to work so someone needs to tag me and take over here.

Did that folding dog bone bowie look something like this one made by some Master Smith I never heard of but goes by the name Newton?::D :D

Thanks for the report Ron! This new award by Giraffe Bone.com - is that reserved for knives with handles of that material?

Okay Danbo, make with the report and photos - I'd be happy to host them for you if you like.

Can anyone else fill in the blanks for the missing award winners?

Roger

Dang that's a nice folding bowie.

More pictures, must have...more pictures.

Thanks Ron, that was a good start.

Roger,
Yes that award is reserved for the "best application and use of giraffe bone on a knife".

And that's the folding knife that won and the guy you mentioned is correct except he had a sheath with the folding bowie in Little Rock. Here'a picture of it in the sheath.

Thanks Keith.

Ron, that sheath is an exquisite finishing touch. Congrats on the awards!!

Roger

Ron,

Thanks for the photo of the sheath. I thought that it might be a little exciting to carry that folding Bowie loose in your pocket.

Exciting huh? I can think of some other words that would better describe the feeling I would have carrying that one in my pocket!

Ron, man what a package. I was hoping to get to see the sheath that went with that bowie. I am certainly not disappointed. Fantastic!

Some pics posted on behalf of Danbo.

First, some of Roger Massey's knives.

A pair of 10" bowies, one in crown stag, the other in curly maple:

A single shot of the crown stag:

And finally a sweet little hunter that Danbo picked up for himself. Outstanding Rowe sheath accompanies this terrific knife:

And speaking of sweet hunters, here's a dandy in walnut by Russ Andrews (Russ' pic):

Cheers,

Roger

Here's the scoop on the Massey hunter. I had a nice piece of stag laying around, and I sent it to Roger, along with a sketch of a little hunter I had in mind. I told Roger I wanted 52100, and I wanted it a tad thinner and pointier than his normal hunter. Roger showed up in Little Rock with this, and I couldn't be happier if Paris Hilton delivered it personally. :D

Blade is 3.75" from guard to tip, nickel silver single guard and spacers with a little red and white mixed in. Overall length is 8". Handle is super comfortable in any hand or hold. Single domed pin and lined thonghole. This is a knife that begs to be used. I really got lucky with the sheath though. Ostrich inlay. It was just laying on Kenny Rowe's table, and happened to fit this knife. :)

Here's a different picture.

More of the Danbo score - a really clean-looking bowie by J.B. Gatlin. 9" blade with ironwood handle:
