First of all I hope all you Hogs had a happy 4th of July.:)

Last Friday I picked up a new to Minnesota friend at 4am for a three day trip into the BWCA and some sight seeing around the north shore on the way out.

We checked into the ranger station in Grand Maris around 10am and had the canoe in the water by 11:30. After some paddling and portaging we made are first camp at around 3:30 and set off to do some fishing.

The one keeper, a decent small mouth bass.

My rig got stuck on some rocks and it was hot so a little float was in order.

What a fish finder looks like when you drift onto a rock in the middle of a lake by accident.

We had a great time, Clay has never been out of the Twin Cities area so it was fun to show him around a bit. Originally from California he seemed pretty surprised that you can escape big crowds fairly easy around here.

I should of taken some pics of the post chopping. Clay is a Busse and chopping virgin, it was a blast watching him beat the snot out of the NMSFNO. I'll just say he was impressed.:thumbup:

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the pics, Helle! Used to live just outside of St. Cloud, and spent many a happy hour on the North Shore. Beautiful country!

Yup, about the size of hummingbirds to boot. At dusk they would just bounce off of you until they found a deet free zone.:barf:

Made portaging easier though, they just kinda picked you up and moved you every so often.:D

Thanks folks
