I took a little time to attempt making a basket from cattail leaves, This is my first attempt at basket making..all things considered, I think it's not half bad

Man you have some skill RR! I need to try to find the time myself to practice some skills.

Cool! Cattails are the best! Even if you want to use them to lug around rocks :D

Very nice, RR. I gotta get to work on my 4's soon, I will be in L.A. all next week, and will be making some, provided I can find wood, LOL. Actually in Anaheim Hills, so, should be a piece of cake. Wonder what the hotel is gonna say when they find 4's posted up everywhere. Moose

Thanks for the Kind words... This little outing wet my whistle to start working on my container making skills.

Nice work bud ... you haven't quite yet reached Doc's level of expertise but it's looking good :D

Worse case scenario they'll probably have some left over pallets you could use for wood.

Hey Riley, how long did it take you to make the basket? Seems like the ticket to foraging for berries assuming it doesn't take half the day to make.:D

Not bad at all for a first basket, I don't know much about basket weaving...I should probably learn some.

SHotgun once I was able to pull the technique from the survival omelet brain of mine it took about 15 minutes....that could be cut in half with practice I;d bet... I left the basket on scene, but knowing cattail leaves like I do f rom making cordage out of them, if you use them green, you got a few hours of use before the dry out and shrink..leaving huge large spaces.. if I was to prep fpr this I would dry the leaves first than lightly moisten before using... But hindsight is always 20/20..THere will be a next time though..... Thanks for all the comments guys.
