I will posting knives for sale throughout the day today here! Usual "i'll take it" applies. Stay tuned all day. First one will go up 10:30 eastern time.

Group of huntsman:
Bog oak with black liners white pinstripe flat ground on 1/8" A2 SFT $300
Black ash burl over black liners yellow pinstripe flat ground 3/32" A2 SFT $240
Ironwood burl over black liners white pinstripe flat ground 3/32" A2 SFT $250

Nope. I literally said "I'll take it" on Instagram. Check it out if you would like.

I'm not understanding something. I said, I would take Bog Oak Huntsman First on Blade Forum and now A Forum Member says, he got it on Instagram?.

Allen posts things in multiple places. It was claimed on Instagram a day prior to your post here on BF. Allen had probably been occupied or catching up and didn't get around to updating his BF post.

It would be similar to posting a knife in the WAS subforum, the Fiddleback subforum and in the Exchange.

Just to offer helpful input, your best bet really is to watch both BF and Instagram. Allen, Chris and even Andy post things up on IG. (Allen and Chris more often than Andy)

I appear to be the first person who said, "I'll take Bog Oak Huntsman black liners A2 SFT."

Yes, it was claimed first via instagram (time stamped). I apologize for any confusion and delay of response here. Please send me a pm and i will let you what else i have available that might work for you. Thank you.

What's a pm?

PM is a Private Message. If you click on the user name, you will get various options. If the person is a Gold Member (paying membership on the Forum - and well worth it in my opinion) then you will have the option of sending either an email or a private message.

You can click on my user name and try it. But I'm not sure if you will have the PM option or email option because you are currently the a registered user - I think you've got to join the forums as a minimum Gold Membership to get those privileges. If you ever intend to sell on here, it's required that you be a Gold Member at least. From a buying standpoint - especially for those of us who collect multiple knives, it pays for itself in the communication privileges.

The key to understanding what happened is this: Normally there are certain times that things happen. Andy opens his sale thread at 3pm on Fridays. Chris opens his Thursday evenings. Allen offers a few knives on Wednesday evenings. Check their respective forums for details (Osprey Knives and W.A. Surls).

But...during shows like this Kansas City show, or the big Blade Show in Atlanta, they will sometimes also offer knives via Instagram.

The first person (based on the timestamp) who claims something is the winner. I once had a knife that I claimed via PM, and another forum member (Warrior108) claimed via the forum thread, literally a few moments apart. My claim was not visible to him, so he thought he won the blade. When Allen explained that I had sent a PM earlier, he immediately deferred to my claim.

Just our forum etiquette. And now we (Warrior108) look out for each other on here constantly! I still owe him a drink!

One other thing. Allen is very responsive to hearing what people want. If you really want a bog oak Huntsman, keep checking every Wednesday. It wouldn't surprise me if in the next month or two one showed up for sale on his Wednesday thread. I have won a few knives I wanted this way - it just requires patience...sometimes it just takes a while before one pops up... and some speed and luck when the thread opens.

Thanks for the info. I looked on Instagram and couldn't differentiate which knives were up for grabs or when they were posted. Bill

Bill,

The only knives that are available on Instagram will actually say "First I'll take it applies..." or "Let me know if you are interested..."

Chris (Osprey) will often offer up knives that don't sell on his Thursday thread this way. I've only ever seen Andy and Allen (Fiddleback) offer knives this way during a show.

Otherwise, they are just pics of knives that are being worked on, or in the pipeline for the sale threads or dealers.

I know it can be a bit confusing figuring out the protocols. I'd strongly suggest reading up on the sticky thread at the very top section of the Fiddleback Forum page (highlighted in yellow) called "Law of the Sharks, Rules, Tips and Tricks"

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1147860-Law-Of-the-Sharks-Rules-Tips-and-Tricks

This is an invaluable source for information on how things work, and helped me immensely when I got started.
