Many of you are probably aware of what a balisong or "butterfly" knife is, a blade with two handles that counter-rotate around the tang. You may also be aware that there is an elaborate art of manipulating these knives. But, since this art is rarely seen at a very skilled level, you may not have ever seen it done and done well.

Fortunately, bladeforums.com moderator and quite possibly the best balisong artist alive today, Clay, has undertaken a new project to conduct two hours of live balisong demonstrations over the internet. You can watch from right where you are right now!

Even if you're not really interested in balisongs per se, I think you'll still find this quite interesting to watch for a few minutes. It's not often that you get a chance to see this art at this level.

Here's Clay's instructions:

I'll be workin' the Balis live between 12:00 and 2:00 Eastern time.

Here's how to find it:

go to www.teveo.com

in the first section theres a link to "View all web cams".

in the alphabetical list click on "B".

scroll down to the Butterfly cam

You're there!

Let me know what you guys think.

It's just a few clicks from where you are right now and if you have any interest in knives, I'm sure you'll find this worth at least a few minutes.

Man...he makes it look soooo easy....i wish i was that good left handed...ohh well...practice makes perfect right??

The quality depends on a few things. Your modem speed, how many people are connected to the site at once, and the usual Internet traffic.

I'm connected by a Cable modem so it's all being shot up quick.

The loops you're watching were done at near full speed and the software and server can only stream 20 frames per second, so that is also something to consider. I think once I find the right speed for the techniques it'll be a bit smoother.

I'll play with it and see what happens.

And this should be an easier way to get to it:

By the way, Thanx for the plug Chuck.

With my 56k modem it looks very strange. It goes from open to closed with absolutely no transitions.

Ah well...I guess if I stop buying knives long enough I could get a better connection. Not likely.
