Fedex just delivered my Cold Steel Liverpool Assassin today. It's got a great feel in the hands! I have been on the fence about ordering one for a long time, and then I got the Special Projects Christmas Sale catalog in the mail and knew that the time was right for buying an item that I was probably never going to use (it's right up there with my CS Indian War Club).

Has anyone tried removing the decals? I tried with a hair dryer, but to no avail. I considered using a dremel tool, but thought better of it. My wife has offered to stencil "In Case Of Zombies" on the cricket bat, and I'm all for it.

I always have to stop myself from butchering things up in an attempt to "improve them"...
right now it's nestled in a corner by the front door.

Are they decals or printed on the plastic? In either case, you might get good results with some of this:

I've used it to get both decals and paint/ink off plastic and it works well without harming any plastic I've tried it on.

They sure look like decals, and they are really on there like pit bulls! No amount of heat from a hairdryer would budge them, but I managed to remove a small corner with my fingernail after the heat was applied. I will certainly try your suggestion, thanks!

I tried the Testors ELO, and it wouldn't touch the graphics on the cricket bat. So I tried Zip-Strip and it lifted whatever combination of paint/decal that was there. The "Liverpool Assassin" lettering is gone, and the bat is ready for my wife to letter "In Case Of Zombies" in its place.

You will have to post a pic and let us see how it turns out.

Sorry the ELO was a fail, but now we know at least, and we now know what to recommend in the future.

No problem, and I do appreciate the suggestion. The only catch is that my artist wife was telling me from the start to use Zip Strip, but I didn't listen. Now I have to live with the "I told you so"! (Actually, she helped me remove the lettering and has offered to do the new printing.)

The true measure of a relationship is how well a wife puts up with the pre-"I told you so" behavior and how gracefully the husband deals with receiving the "I told you so." Plus, she has an unbreakable cricket bat, and that should always factor into the equation.
