Im thinking of picking up the Executive NRG and NRG Non-magnetic from Newt Livesay. Anybody have any expierience or opinions on these blades? Thanks in advance!

I have both- the Executive NRG has long been a favorite- it just winds up going where I go most of the time- really super comfortable handle & the blade geometry makes it a great little cutter. The "non-magnetic" NRG will do what it is intended to do- makes a nice "Jury Duty Special" (disclaimer: carrying this into some buildings can cause you Very Serious Trouble, Legal Hassles, Bad Breath, Prehensile Tail, Root Rot, Severe Tire Damage, Nail Fungus and Post-Nasal Drip- there, I've covered my behind legally) Newt Livesay makes consistently super-duper A-OK stuff at good prices- can't go wrong.

I have the NRG, and will second the notion that it will do the job it was made for. Despite its size, it is very light. And besides that, I heard you can sharpen it to a pretty decent edge, enough to cut at least once or twice b/f you finally stab the bastard. Anyway, it's worth $20, as opposed to whatever the horrible price is that Mad Dog charges, though I wish I knew what Szabo's Glo Knives look like and how much they cost. As for the Executive NRG, I've heard nothing but good things about it in all aspects of judging a knife's quality.

I've got an NRG, too. Excellent last-ditch weapon. Sharpens with a nail file. Super light. Excellent fitting kydex sheath. The instructions that come with it say that the point of the NRG was made to be able to break off inside it's intended target with lateral pressure. Imagine being stabbed, and then having part of the knife left inside the wound...yuk!!!

I also own an NRG fiber knife. I do love it! I don't see anything in my instructions that the knife was made to break off nor do I see any indication on the knife that it was designed to do so. I wonder if there was a design change. I'll have to pass a note to Newt.

Although I own an NRG, and like it, it is not fair to compare the NRG with a Mad Dog Frequent Flyer or the Mirage-X.

Newt Livesay makes great knives for the price and the NRG is a good piece.

Mad Dog's stuff on the other hand really are worth the money.
