Hello all! As some may know I've been in a Bowie mood lately, and I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not Mr. Livesay is still making these knives? I had heard they were a special run and limited to a set number, but I was never sure. Also, anyone know what the wait-time is on a Livesay these days? I know he was having problems with production and stuff... Anyhoo, thanks for the info!

Sincerely,
Anthony

Thanks for the link! The knife sounds like a winner, but the page doesn't say whether its been discontinued or not. Say, any opinions on which is better: Sandbar Bowie or MMHW Bowie (think K-19)? Thanks, again!

Sincerely,
Anthony

Newt posted about a month ago that he was not taking back orders for knives and was only selling which were already made. At that time he had no equipment to make knives. The best thing is to contact him and check and see if he is in a better positi on now or if he got his equipment and is making knives again.

I have had the opportunity to try a Mineral Mountain Bowie and I liked it very much. It was a handfull, but the weight felt good. What I don't like is that they only come in a Parkerized or bead blast finish. The Livesay Sandbar Bowie is available in a satin finish. Both use excellent steel, the Livesay is available in 1095 or D2 and the Mineral Mountain K-19 comes in 5160. One thing I will say, I really prefer the looks of the K-19. I don't care for the big curved clip and high point od the Livesay and I am also not fond of the shape of the guard.
