Spark,

I like many others like to browse knife sites while at work. Only on my break time of course;)

I actually spend more time on the Forum and buying knives while at work than at home. It just works out better. That is until recently.:(

Corporate security has an invasive automated security system that ostensibly was put in place to stop employees from browsing porno sites. Now it is blocking some knife related sites.

Many manufacturer's sites such as spyderco.com are inaccessible now.

Several places I browse to check availability and pricing like knifeoutlet.com are also off limits.

I usually start shoppingwith 1SKS. I can get to the main page and to the first level of info, say the listing of all Benchmade balisongs. However, access deeper than that level is impossible.

I have no problem getting into sites such as 888, New Graham, etc.

I'm likely going to get little joy petitioning Corp Security (HQ is in Peoples Republic of Kalifornia)to grant me access. Quite frankly, I don't want to put myself under the microscope.:barf:

I doubt if I'm alone in this dilemma. Maybe it would be worthwhile for 1SKS to look at the set up of sites like New Graham and find out what is setting off my company's alarms at 1SKS.

If BladeForums becomes inaccessible I guess I'll have to look for another job.;)

Hmm. That's pretty weird. I certain sites are listed with various net-nanny services as being bad due to "weapons" content, which may be the case with 1SKS - since we're prominent, we get popped into the filters, where other sites might get by.

Past that bro, I'd say use an anonymizer service to browse - that should stop the corporate filters.

There is a secret to gettin your site around that stuff, but I won't give it away but will tell you it's in the code.

Spark,

I'm not permitted to load software on my work computer so the anonymizer is not an option.

I'm suggesting you consider changing your web code as NGK suggests to remove all those words that trigger the net nannies and corporate cops.

Actually, anonymizer doesn't require a software load - it's just another website you browse to. You may or may not have to buy a membership, but if you do it's cheap (and worth it, just to frustrate the security goobers.)
