Try as I might, Filson just doesn't fit me.

Yesterday I received an LL Bean catalog with several models of their wool blend jackets/parkas that come in tall and a few a xtra tall. I've had some of their shirts before so I much more confident they'll fit me.

Anyone have experience with their wool products?

Thanks.

I agree with you about Filson not fitting.
I'm small, probably a 40 Reg.
Even their Med jackets and coats feel like I'm wearing a tent.
I did, however, find that their wool vest fits like a glove.
I assume they size all their stuff oversized so you can fit a few insulation layers underneath.
Great quality though.

For what it's worth, I've been buying Bean clothing for almost fifty years, including everything from wool hiking pants and long coats to travel chinos and cot/pol shirts. I have always found both fit and quality to be acceptable. It makes most sense to make the pilgrimage to Freeport so you can try on the garment(s) that interest you. And there is the famous money-back (or exchange) if something fails to fit or otherwise falls short of your expectations...

All that being said, I just qave myself a retirement present of a couple of pieces of Swanndri wool, direct from New Zeland. (when looking online, rmember that prices are quoted in NZ$, not US)... SUPER fit and "hand"

Hope this helps

i live next to LL beans in maine and i am sorry to say that they have turned into a second rate clotheing store. Stilll they are possibley 1 step up from wall-mart but not by much last shirt i had of theirs ripped down the back when i tried to put it on. the fabric was rotted out. To bad back in the 70's it was a great sporting goods store.
