LM Charge diamond file uses?

I bought got a LM Charge Ti yesterday to carry at work. I didn't think I'd like it as much as my black Swisstool, but there's something about the Charge. (Maybe it's just that the Swisstool is so pretty I'm afraid to use it.)

Anyhow, the salesman pointed out the diamond-coated file on the Charge, but I never thought to ask its purpose. I've used files on other multi-tools to smooth rough edges, so forth, but I never had a diamond file before. Is this for sharpening blades, or?

Thanks for any ideas you can share.

It's for... well, for filing! ;)

Seriously, you can use it anywhere you'd use a regular file. It might feel pretty smooth to the touch, but it's actually quite aggressive on just about every material I've tried, and leaves a smoother surface then the "regular" side does.

The only downsides I can think of are:
  • It clogs more easily on soft, gummy paterials than the regular file
  • If you bear down hard with it on hard metals, you'll break the diamond crystals and wear it out prematurely

Really, just try it, you'll like it!

The LM-Surge has a similar diamond-coated file, I use it mainly for filing the cutting edges of all my blades. Works great!
