LM Surge at Costco for $49.99

Mods, sorry if this is not allowed. This is just too good a deal not to share. Yesterday at the Charlotte Pike Costco in Nashville I bought a LM Surge with a c308 Leatherman knife for fifty bucks. They only had a few left, so you may want to call before making a special trip down there. You can view the set on their web site but it shows an $89.99 price tag.

Anyone know if the Surge is being discontinued? There was an asterisk on the price tag, and I've read that means they are trying to clear out the last of a product.
 
I know Target has done decent price drops before, the models definitely weren't disco'd, think it's just clearing inventory at specific locations. They had the Surge for $40 at some stores, but not at mine :(
 
I too wouldn't mind a Surge at this price. May have to look around.
 
Does the surge usually come with bits? The costco deal includes 9 double sided bits as well. So far I've been really happy with my surge.

I doubt that the Surge is in any danger of being discontinued. In 2006, Costco had Leatherman do a set with the Surge and the c308 as a special for them. The c308 is a c304 with c302 gray anodized aluuminum scales. Thus far, the c308 has only been done for this set for Costco (much like the current Charge SLC (silver gray anodized aluminum scales) and c303 set done for Costco this year.

By the way, both sets came in a great presentation case. The 2006 set had silver frames and the current st has black frames. Really neat!
