LM Wave issues

I have a Wave original I bought about 12 years ago and yesterday afternoon I was helping a friend unbox a refrigerator. It had a wire around the bottom that I tried to cut with my Wave hard wire cutter and the pliers jaws sprung so that they don’t close and leave a 1/8 gap. I didn’t think I clamped down that hard but it sure sprung the jaws.

Has anyone else had this problem and how do I go about sending it in for warranty?

If you send it in without saying it has sentimental value, they will replace it with a newer model. Voice of experience. As for sprining the jaws, I've done far worse. I've broken the jaws on one and the frames on two others. Leatherman replaced them all at no charge.
