Made this in 10 mins. using dremel tool and wather to keep things cool... ;)

Accepts standard size bits and is magnetic...

I like it! I've thought about doing that myself but just haven't gotten around to doing it. After you use it for a while let us know how it works out. Thanks for sharing.

I also ground my own adapter, using the diamond file on my wave and lots of patience.

There's no way I would buy Leatherman's proprietary bits unless they can match my collection of 1/4 hex bits. AND IF THEY MAKE AN EQUIVALENT OF MINE THEY HAVE TO BE SECURITY HEX AND TORX, not like those non-security 42 bit set they sell.

I also have some very small bits that leatherman could put in their eyeglass screwdriver set (if I had my way).

They are (from Left to Right): hex 0.7, 0.9, 1.3, torx #4, slotted 1.0mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm, and philips # 000 and # 00.

In the mean time, I'll just have to use my 4 mm adapter (though I have yet to grind the 1/4 bit end to fit my Wave)

We've read a few nasty reports about hex-bit drivers on Leatherman tools shattering under high load. Don't know if this is widespread, or just in a few isolated cases. Haven't had any problems myself.

Those extensions and full-size hex bits you guys are using will be capable of exerting even more torque than the kit bits from Leatherman. Please let us know if you have any "frag" occurances.

Would those be the homemade ones like ours or the ones Leatherman sells?
Haven't had any problems with mine, though I pull back when I feel like I'm exerting too much pressure.

BTW, I love the before there was Leatherman archives Bob. I know they're old but still...
