Hey guys. I fished in winter last year at a local pond (large pond) and basically just used a 3/8 swim jog with craw trailer. I got a few decent sized fish bit not many. Any tips? I normally fish warmer weather but curiosity got me last year.

No ice here yet.

Lots of good fishing still with the mild winter in the Northeast.....There have been bites on top water lures near me in December!! Gulp minnows seem to work best for Crappie/bass around here with this warm spell....Nice fish!

Try a ned rig, a green pumpkin grub or a small plastic swim bait that matches the bait fish in the body of water on a 1/16 - 1/8 Oz jig head, drop shot rig with a small 4 inch straight tail worm, or that same worm on a neko rig.

If I can't get bit on one of these I go home. They are all basically numbers rigs but you will get the big bite every now and again. I throw them all on a 7 foot ml spinning rod with 10 lb braid and a 3 foot leader of 10 lb fluro.

Youre catching a few decent fish , thats pretty good for winter in a northern state . They are not going to bite like in the warmer months . Good job .
