I just received my knife today, it came USPS. It was an Ebay purchase, $80.00 including the shipping. I Also picked up a Silver trident at the same time but I'll leave that for another post. My first impression was I really liked the way the knife fit in my hand. It feels really well balanced with the blade at 5'' and the handle at 4 1/2" plus 1 1/8" of hammering end buttcap. The blade is 3/16" 12C 27 Stainless at 58 RC. Over all length is 10.59" with a weigh in of 11.4 oz. It also came with the safety knife and a massive rig setup for all kinds of carry options. There was no paperwork though and I guess I'll have to research the carry options or spend some time figuring out what works best. For the money I am going to order a second one to keep on the shelf while I put this one through some harsh testing. I will update when I have more information to post. For now I feel good about my purchase and would recommend it to anyone who was thinking about picking one up. You can't go wrong for the at that price.

I also have a LMF II.
Good knife and worth more the the $ 85 I paid for it.

Cheers,

André

How is the edge-holding of the knife? I have gotten the impression that 12C27 is an over-rated stainless steel. I've read that a very complex heat treatment is needed to get the best out of it, and even then it still ranks below 440C.

Looks like a good design, though.

Good stuff on the LMF II. Nice mini-review and good picture.
It's on my "maybe" list.
Maybe one of the stores around here will carry it.

As to 12c27, I have a few knives with it, an EKA folder (Super Swede - 3 of them) and a Frost(Sweden) kitchen knife (3 of them), and from my use I'd say that it's a pretty good steel, not over-rated at all, under-rated and under-used if anything, and probably well suited to a knife like the ASEK.

I've heard that stuff about a complex heat-treatment for 12c27 (Bark River Knives?), and I'm thinking that it might be bogus, sort of an urban knife legend.
