Loc-tite on screws for BM folders?

Perusing some of the threads on the Benchmade forum, I see people giving the advice to put Loc-tite on the pivot screws to reduce blade play.

Is that a common problem with Benchmade knives?

Starfish, about all folding knife pivots that are screws have a chance of slowly unscrewing themselves. Most companies will use a dab of Loc-Tite or some other adhesive on the threading in their pivot pins. I think BM uses Loc-Tite Black Max adhesive to keep their pivot screws tight.

I noticed that on sevel knives the pivot comes loose over a short length of time. The worst is my Spyderco Military and BM 42a Balisong. The Bali comes loose after about 5 mins of practice and needs re-tightening slightly.

Use the blue Lok-tite. A little goes along way. Just remember to clean any lubricant off the threads. It works for me.

Glad to hear that this is not a problem endemic to Benchmades. I suppose if I were not so mechanically DEclined I probably would have figured that out :D

Thanks!

I have owned to bechmades a large accent and a small accent and i have never had this problem, i guess i am just lucky the pivots have alwyas stayed in place for me:cool:
