Last night as I was fiddling with my 705 I decided to loc-tite the pivot. Well, this morning I found the knife not to open at all. i think some loc-tite must have leaked out and gotten the knife a locked up. My question is how to get rid of the loc-tite? I was thinking of using nial polish remover. Will this work or is there something else I should use. Thanks for any help you can give.

What color was the loctite? There are different colors that are made for different uses.

No, I don't have the item # with me. But it's the medium weight and the color is blue. I've had to disassemble the knife and now I have loc-tite built up on the washers.

Nail Polish remover(Acetone) will remove it, as will many other solvents.

Cool, you got the screw out. I was thinking a warmed up torx driver tip would help.

Microtech told me that the best way to remove this is Acetone, I posted on this a few months ago.

When (If) you locktite a pivot screw, use a TINY amount of blue loctite. Put the smallest drop you can on the threads, and then wipe most of it off with a rag. There should not be enough to run out to contact the blade or liners.

Saberman, you used way too much Loc-Tite. When you clean it up, just apply a little to the threads only. I use a toothpick to do this. Too much leads to the problems you have experienced.

Brian, grab a hair dryer, turn it up as hot as it will go, blow it on the pivot for 1-2 minutes, and back the pivot-screw out. It's that easy. Heat up the blue stuff and it melts.
The tip of a soldering iron touching the pivot works even better, but alot of people don't have soldering irons handy.
