Has anyone used Loc Tite 249? Its looks like blue teflon tape and is pretty pricey for a roll especially if you only plan to use it for your knives. Im really interested in the no mess application compared to liquid loc tite. If anyone has used it please chime in!

I think the Loc Tite tape would be tough to apply to small machine screws. I use the liquid blue all the time without any problems. It only takes a very small amount. If you apply too much, then you have a mess.

Do you let the loc tite dry a little before you put the screw back into your knife? I find that im always finding dried loc tite outside of the threads no matter how little I use but I do apply it when it is wet.

I've used regular teflon tape and it works pretty good. I don't know about the loctite stuff though. It's too pricey for me to buy.

if you want a less messy loc tite it exists in stick. not the most common form but they make it. the ref is 248.

One way to apply the liquid Loctite: use a pin/needle to direct it to the threads of the screw. Initially, just squeeze a drop onto the needle over a paper towel. Just a little bit will cling to the needle, and some will drip off, leaving a tiny droplet at the tip. That's much easier to apply sparingly to a tiny screw, with minimal mess. This works well with superglue also, and oil as well.
