After our move down from the North Island, we have finally started getting the house in order and have time to do lots of stuff out side. I have been really looking forward to getting out locally and getting to know what this new location has to offer, and there sure is going to be lots between hiking, fishing, hunting and camping I hope to be pretty busy. Working during the week and all, we will only be out on the weekends until spring hits and there are more hours left in the day after work. So here is this past weekends outing, I will try and post pics and a rough location of where we go.

We were in a 'secret spot' along the NE beach:
Some gear:
Iltis Oxhead axe(ranger band on handle for grip), Spyderco Bill Moran, Fire kit and water bottle. Shoulder day bag and day pack.

Fire kit contents:
- fat wood
- lighter
- matches
- plexii glass
- dryer lint
- Blast match
- mini soda bottle with petroleum jelly cotton balls
- fire steel

Going strong now, gotta love that fir fire wood:
Heating up some brew for the pickin' crew, on my "new" Svea 123:
Our Haul:
15 per person as per the regulations:
The Mean Shucking Machine, so handy:
The end product, frozen in water to preserve. Destined for the smoker:
