After our move down from the North Island, we have finally started getting the house in order and have time to do lots of stuff out side. I have been really looking forward to getting out locally and getting to know what this new location has to offer, and there sure is going to be lots between hiking, fishing, hunting and camping I hope to be pretty busy. Working during the week and all, we will only be out on the weekends until spring hits and there are more hours left in the day after work. So here is this past weekends outing, I will try and post pics and a rough location of where we go.

Oyster Picking:

We were in a 'secret spot' along the NE beach:

Some gear:
Iltis Oxhead axe(ranger band on handle for grip), Spyderco Bill Moran, Fire kit and water bottle. Shoulder day bag and day pack.

Fire Kit and knife close up:
The Moran is a real great knife, light, strong, sharp as hell, good sheath. I have it Molle locked onto the strap of my shoulder bag.

- fat wood
- lighter
- matches
- plexii glass
- dryer lint
- Blast match
- mini soda bottle with petroleum jelly cotton balls
- fire steel

I never had them smoked, but I'm sure they are really good.

Very cool pics:thumbup: How many people were in the pickin crew? Seems like you guys got a pretty good operation going with that shucker and all.
