First off, if you don't want to give out information on the net I totally understand. I'm somewhat of a tight a$$ with my info. I burn things that just have my address so if what I have to say contradicts your thoughts or concerns ignore it. Your free to post your opinions though.

Many of the things we discuss are location specific. I would more likely take bushman5's and pitdog's aevdvice on something then I would on Southerncross' advice only for the reason that Pit and Bushy live in relatively the same climate. Now that's not to say Mick doesn't know his S, in fact we agree the GB mini is the ultimate survival tool.;) It's just that when it comes to skill or method, it really helps to know where a person is from. So I encourage those who post here a lot to either include your location in your post or add it to your personal info.

Great point buddy, location can make a world of difference when it comes to deciding on gear choices and survival techniques !

i dont listen to any of y'alls advice...im in HAWAII!!! :p

the wet conditions firestarting is good advice though :)

I'm currently in GA, but recently moved from TX, grew up in WA; my wife is from FL (we spend a lot of time there)...lived in NC and KS, including a a few overseas locations.

I understand where you're coming from. Every location is quite unique...hard wood, soft wood, more wet, more desert like. Knowledge of the local area is important and with decent skills you can adapt.

Gainesville, Florida. In fact, I believe Mannlicher and I are in the same city. Hot, humid, and will be rainy here in the next month or so. I'm getting out ASAP. The humidity kills me, I'm moving somewhere thats dry - Utah!

totally agree.

Born and raised in the hardwoods/flatlands of Wisconsin, spent a year freediving and swamping in Florida, 6 months in San Antonio and 6 months in the pit of Houston, and the last year in the canyonlands, desert highlands, raging rivers, vast mountain burn areas, ponderosa forests and ideal alpine terrains that Idaho has to offer.

I live here, and play here, 50+ different ecosystems ranging from extreme wet rainforest to desert, to blistering cold snowbound areas, to blistering hot scrublands, to extremely dense impassable forests to easily walked forests, massive mountains, low lying areas and everything in between. A simple drive will take me thru many of these areas.
