I came across a post on the location for Season 2 of this show:
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=300-498+Southern+Pl,+Chalmette,%E2%80%8E+Louisiana%E2%80%8E&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=498+Southern+Pl,+Chalmette,+St+Bernard,+Louisiana+70043&gl=us&ei=LQ6JTMjLKsH_lgeiyo2IDw&ved=0CBMQ8gEwAA&ll=29.9517,-89.970603&spn=0.002226,0.006845&t=h&z=18

What I'm finding humorous is that if you zoom out a little, there's a Big Lots and Cinema Shopping Center to the southeast.

It looks like an active commercial/urban area. It's good to know they can take a break from their post-apocalyptic future by shopping for furniture or taking in a movie :D

EDIT: Some street views show a lot of husks of houses. It may be more devastated than I than I thought

Thats discovery's "Reality" TV for you. Wonder if Bear comes and visits them. (I had to say it, someone was going to)

Chalmette LA. was devestated by Katrina and much of it is yet to be rebuilt. It does have a post-apocolyptic appearance in some areas.

What threw me off, too, was that Big Lots website still lists the one in the Google maps view as one of their locations, so I assumed it is an existing store.

It may be. It has been five years since the Hurricane and the town was not abandoned afterward. People began picking up the pieces as soon as they were let back in. Though many left and never returned. I would suspect that you can get a good deal on a vacant lot there now. Or a site to film a TV episode. You might even get pizza delivered to the set.

I smell a Mike Hawke crossover series...

The first show was relegated to 10 acres so this isn't a stretch.
