I came across a post on the location for Season 2 of this show:
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=300-498+Southern+Pl,+Chalmette,%E2%80%8E+Louisiana%E2%80%8E&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=498+Southern+Pl,+Chalmette,+St+Bernard,+Louisiana+70043&gl=us&ei=LQ6JTMjLKsH_lgeiyo2IDw&ved=0CBMQ8gEwAA&ll=29.9517,-89.970603&spn=0.002226,0.006845&t=h&z=18
What I'm finding humorous is that if you zoom out a little, there's a Big Lots and Cinema Shopping Center to the southeast.
It looks like an active commercial/urban area. It's good to know they can take a break from their post-apocalyptic future by shopping for furniture or taking in a movie
EDIT: Some street views show a lot of husks of houses. It may be more devastated than I than I thought
