YAHOO!!! I finally got my left handed Lochsa with an S90v blade. It's beautiful. :) Still waiting on the damascus blade though. I can't wait to get that one, but I guess I'll have to.

Post some pics. I am looking at getting one of these now that I know they are availble in lefty mode or a Sebenza w/micarta inlays.

I'm on the list for one of these beauties. What made you go for the S90V over the S30V?

Sorry. My camera's out of commission so can't post any pictures. You should check Scott's website as he has a gallery of the knives he offers.

I wanted something different as my Sebenza is S30v and most of my folders are 154cm, 34 ATS, S30v, VG10 etc. I have a Spyderco Military in cpm 440V (s90v) which seems to hold its edge forever. I have never had to sharpen it. I asked Scott if it would be a real bear to sharpen a s90v blade and he didn't think it would be a problem at all. So I decided to go for it. I did ask him at the time if he made interchangeable blades, but he doesn't do that. Too bad. The blade steel and the tip up/tip down decisions are tough. I went tip up - my personal preference. The waiting is tough.

I think cpm 440v and s90v are different steels. cmp 440v is also known as s60v. Other name for s90v is 420v.
look here

edit:

also s90v seems to be much improvement over s60v so there is no need to worry

Metalicat, great score. I have a lefty Lochsa. It's quite remarkable. I've had mine I think a couple years and use it (but not really a whole lot). I think I'd die if I lost it. I glad I saw this thread, I think I'll carry mine today! ;) :D

lukaszki, thanks for the info. Looks like I lucked out then as I definitely don't have a knife that uses this steel.

Wait time was 18 months when I ordered so I was expecting the knife in December and actually got it earlier. Thing is like Scott Dog I am a left hander and I think Scott Cook does them (left handed) in batches when he has enough orders.

Scott D. it's a beautiful knife. I can understand now why some call it a refinement of the Sebenza. The family resemblance between the two is clear, but each is its own expression of that concept. The Sebenza lives up to its name "worker" but the Lochsa, which no doubt is as durable, is a more "artful" expression :)
