Have been looking for one of these for some time now. This one arrived today and was worth the hunt. It has all that I like in a framelock: great lock, perfect fit and finish, very sharp edge. The handle is "reverse finished", meaning satin sides and bead blasted spine. The one block handle is a big wow factor.
Specs: closed 4 3/4", open 8 1/4", blade 3.5"

Congrats on the find! I like that reverse finish.

My Lochsa is without a doubt my #1 favorite knife. Right now. :D

Congrats on such a fine knife. I wish the wait was not so long...I am sure it will be worth it.

CONGRATS on the amazing score!! I can't wait until mine arrives!!! That reverse finish is awesome!!

You were lucky to find it. Mine is one of my favorites. What steel is yours? Enjoy your new knife.
Dave.

These ARE rare. In all my travels, I have never handled one. I still want to look it over closely to try to reveal that secret method that Scott uses to drill the hole for the detent ball in the framelock. It appears to be buried deep within the frame.

How DOES he do that??

Wish I had known. There was one in my pocket at Blade :D.

Congrats on a great folder from a good guy.

Info copied from a thread I posted on another site:

"The timascus gives away how he does the detent. Here is a pick where you can see the fill."

"This is just second hand info but I heard Scott welds the detent ball hole closed after the balls put in and if you look on the inside of the 1 piece handle theres a steel dowl rod in there towards the bottom front that acts as the stop when the blades in the closed position. I also heard that after that rod is installed, the hole is also rewelded back up. What I havent heard though is how he gets the lock bar re-bent over to the right? Just a guess would be heat and a smaller rod in the round cutout."

Thanks Flavius. That kind of mechanical trickery is WELL worth his asking prices. Amazing.

My Lochsa is the best folder I own. The edge geometry is awesome. It's a bargain at twice the price.

I ordered two plain S30V ones direct from Scott Cook in March of 2004, and received them last August (2006). When Scott caled me, he told me whether I realized that I could instantly turn around and sell them for double what I just paid. I carried a large plain Sebenza for six years, and have been carrying one of the Lochsas since they arrived just over a year ago.

Those Locsha's are gorgeous!!!! I love looking at your pix, at least it will hold me over until mine arrives.

Three years and counting since I ordered. Anyone ever hear from Scott? He does not return e-mails or phone messages...
