  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

what are the pieces traditionally made of that lock the blade in place and the button that lifts it to release the tension? referring to traditional autos that use a leaf spring. i am planning to use the same steel i use for the blade and spring and i will just grind it down to make it skinny enough to fit under the handle scales, is that wise? i would like to make my first automatic knife.

Would this depend on your blade steel? I've heard of people doing that with carbon steel, like 1095-ish, but i don't know if you would want to try that with some of the higher alloy steels.
Of course i make fixed blades out of low alloy steel, so i really don't know here

i got 1084, played around with some ideas, the pieces arent hard to make. gonna keep making different pieces until i find a simple mechanism that works well
