lock bar on a framelock: what if it bends all the way?

I don't know the vocabulary for the anatomy but here is what I am talking about.

I have a number of framelock knives and when I open them, the framelock doesn't bend all the way back towards the opposing side of the knife. It bends partially.

I just purchased a Buck Mayo TNT (magnificent knife, what a value at $138 I paid at of all places homedepot.com) and when I open it, the lock goes all the way to the other side, touching the other side.

Is this an issue? Is this normal for this knife? Should I be concerned? What happens when the knife wears after awhile?

Thanks!

HOME DEPOT! that's amazing! Congrats on the price! The first and easiest thing to try is loosen all the screws and with the blade closed, try to "shift the handle scales in either direction. (pull on one and push on the other toward and away from the pivot and retighten. Check it and if better, then good. If worse, try opposite direction. ??couldn't hurt?? and easy!

It generally isn't good for liners/frame locks in general as once the locks wears it get sloppy. Buck has a forum here where you an check for specific details.

So here's my take on what you are sayin.

It's best if the liner or framelock starts on the side closest to it because as it wears, it will move towards the other side of the knife, but if there's no room for that to happen, it will result in blade play. Is this correct?

This is correct.

Cog,

How did you get the TNT from homedepot.com for $138. I show the price @ $185 (with free shipping)? I'm looking to buy this knife.

Thank you kindly.

I just looked too, and they raised the price back up. I found it Googling around and was shocked. Grabbed it. It was the same price for at least a few days.

I notice they have some interesting knives there, quite unexpected. This one for instance...incorrectly listed as a "Buck Mayo Koji" knife (that would be interesting, no??)
