today i was using my m16 like every day nothing big just cutting the bottom of a pepsi can to get the bottom out i needed for a project i was doing i pushed the knife into the bottom and it folded on my fingers ( ouch) bleed ... it was not as bad as it could have been i was not pushing hard the knife won,t lock up at all now i am pretty upset this knife is rather new and never used for much more than cutting this is the first time i had really put pressure on it dame i knew it would be a crkt to fail on me never really liked them but i thought i would give one a try o well lesson learned back to a fixed blade for work

I agree that a fixed blade is safest, but there are many better locking folders than the ones offered by CRKT. I hope your hand will be alright, best of luck.

Given that the prominent Carson Flipper guard on the M16 would stop the blade from contacting the fingers, how did you manage to cut yourself when it closed? The guard serves the same function as an extended choil on a folder; it gives your fingers something unsharp to stop the blade should it fold up on you.

I have a full size M-16, and have never had it even budge.
In fact, this is the first time I have heard of this knife failing.
Get an Axis. Your fingers will like you for it.

Razor i am not sure what part of the knife you are talking about that would stop it from cutting my fingers ? i have just about all the knives we talk about here on the forums most just cost too much to use for work i agree the axis would be a better knife i think i will just carry my multi tool for a while after all do i really need two knifes ( ya !!! )

Razor, he probably has one of the ones made without the flipper. I agree with you, if there was a flipper it would be damn near impossible to cut yourself.

I see what you guys are talking about mine has the flipper but i think i had my hand a little lower on the knife so the flipper didnot contact me when it closed
