I have a Crawford Point Guard. The lock up is solid and I have not had or heard of any problems with the lock. ...Ed.

I've got a custom Wortac that doesn't fail the whack test, but moves with fore and aft blade play. You can see the slight rocking of the blade on the liner lock, and I've disassembled it and cleaned it several times thinking it might fix itself somehow with time and wear. I've emailed Pat to see if this could be fixed and never heard a word; I'm sure he's very busy. Guess I need to do it again...

Professor.

I've never had nor heard of a lock failure on a Crawford. I have had quite a few.

Professor, I would try calling for Pat. You will probably get a quicker response that way.

why aren't more people happy?

SIFU1A -- am certain you heard of such problems with the CRKT Crawford Kasper FF. Not original Crawford knives. The concern mentioned in a post following yours is the first post I've ever read w/anything critical of the lockup, or any other problem for that matter, with Pat Crawford knives.

A lot of people who buy collaboration manufactured knives sometimes forget to add the CRKT or Outdoor Edge or Camillus, etc. Not meaning to be incorrect, but often, I'd guess, simply coming from a different world than the custom buying one.

As it was, there was a brief period of complaints about the CRKT CKFFs, but it seemed to stop. I'm not sure whether there was a brief period of QC problems at CRKT, or more likely a concerted effort by a few folks against CRKT and all the praise their knives get, considering their cost. Also, of course, nobody who was reporting these failures was using the LAWKS which is on the CRKT models. A few forumites seemed convinced that in a real life/death situation, the fraction of a second needed to use the LAWKS button wouldn't be available. Just as quickly as the complaints began, they stopped. IMHO, there are an awful lot of folks who have some trouble dealing with the "fact" that the CRKT CKFF is one of the best fighting folders on the market, regardless of cost. Good design is good design, and quality finish is quality finish. The # on the price tag really may not mean much.

Bugs

ya bugs, thats where i heard it - got the impression they were talkin about the crawford custom mods - personally i dont think anything is wrong w/the CRKT versions i have 2, no probs - and have NEVER heard bad things about crawford knives, the custom knives - and ya know what else bugs? i agree w/ya 110% about the fact some people cant accept the fact its (the CRKT KFF) better than 'X' and 1/2 the price.....
